G’Day there! I’m Gavin, the “Big Chief” of North Wind Creative. This all started as a bit of fun (and still is!), but somewhere along the way, I picked up some fancier tools, and the designs got even cooler. So, come join me on this wild ride of creativity, where the ideas are fresh, the laughs are plenty, and fun is always part of the plan!
My woodworking journey?
Let’s just say it kicked off as a bit of fun (and to be clear, it still is—nothing too serious here!). Back in 2018, I started out in my garage with a little bench and a handful of hand tools. Fast forward a few years, and that humble corner has turned into a full-fledged woodworking haven.
Since then, my tool collection has really expanded. And yes, I have a favourite: my trusty Bluecarve CNC proudly manufactured in Melbourne, Australia. This beast can cut and carve just about anything my brain dreams up. Want a custom cheeseboard? A tabletop with your dog’s face on it? Company logo in wood? No problem. This machine makes customising anything from signs to tables feel like a breeze! Another thrill is mixing CNC with epoxy resin—together, they can bring just about any idea to life! If you can dream it up, this combo can make it a reality.
The name North Wind Creative?
Well, it came to me during a classic Aussie moment: I was in the garage on a scorching day, having a cold beer, with the back roller door wide open. The hot north wind was blasting me right in the face, and bam—North Wind was born! Sometimes inspiration hits like that, right?
Since then, I’ve picked up a bunch of skills (and some fancy tools) that let me create all sorts of pieces for homes and businesses. I’ve made custom pieces that I hope will stick around for generations. One of the best parts? Seeing customers come back with fresh, exciting ideas for new projects we get to bring to life together.
Moving forward, I’m excited to keep crafting and customising pieces that put smiles on faces for years to come. Life’s about having a go, loving what you do, and always moving forward—so here’s to more creativity and less looking back!
